I have a lot of things on the docket for the rest of the year.  One of those things is rebranding. So stay tuned for a new company name and message!  Our services aren’t changing, but the messaging is. When I looked at my client list and contacts, I realized that the people I love serving the most are doing some sort of content repurposing.  So we are updating our image to reflect that. 

So, in preparation for that shift, I want to talk about why you should repurpose your content and what it is. Repurposing content is really just finding new ways to recycle your existing content.  There is a lot of benefit to that.

The Four Reasons You Should Repurpose Your Content

  1. Reaching a new audience.  People consume content in many different ways.  I prefer to read, while my husband prefers video.  Reformatting your message into different mediums means you get a bigger reach and often find people that you wouldn’t have with just one form of content creation.
  2. Resharing old content. Repurposing puts that old favorite front and center to make sure it’s never forgotten.  A good marketer has a ton of content already, so repurposing it is just a way to remind them awesome you are and that you know a lot about a given subject.
  3. Getting the most bang for your buck.  You probably put a lot of effort into that one piece of content or maybe you have a blog post that you are extremely proud of.  Why not get more miles out of that piece? Repurposing your content can ensure that anyone who missed your blog post or video the first time around, has a better chance of seeing it.
  4. Time.  Let’s be honest.  We all need more of that. Time is probably one of the best reasons {if not theeee best} to repurpose.  To save time in the content creation process and give you time to do other valuable work.  And more importantly – increasing awareness for your brand.

How to Repurpose Your Content

Derek Halpern of Social Triggers, says the advantage to repurposing content: “You don’t have to create content day in and day out. You just have to work on getting the content you already have in the hands of more people.”

If you aren’t ready to hire somebody to help you with this, there are a bunch of ways you can start on your own.  For example, from that favorite blog post you have – go through it and find 3-5 awesome quotes and add them to your content calendar to share on social media in the next few weeks.  OR send part of it in a newsletter to your email list.

The possibilities are endless.  With any piece of content we create, we always make sure we have at least 2 other ways to use it.  So this Facebook Live will be turned into a blog post and then sent out in my monthly newsletter. See – it only took me a few minutes to record this video, but now I have content for a few weeks.
