4 Simple Steps to Repurposing Your Content for INCREDIBLE RESULTS

Have you wondered how you can get more views, reach, engagement, [insert fancy metric here] for the content you are creating? 😲😲😲

Content Repurposing, my friend.

Content Repurposing (aka finding new ways to recycle your content) will help you reach new audiences, get the most mileage out of your efforts, and create a cohesive message wherever you post. šŸ’Æ

And we all know that a cohesive message is what converts your ideal client.

And more mileage means you are saving time.

šŸ’„ And we all want more time and more connections to the perfect customer, right?

Step 1: Create a piece of content

Or if you don’t want to create a new one, then find an old one that you can use.  So often we record a video or write a blog post and get super excited about it, deliver it, then it goes into the internet black hole and isn’t seen again.

If you have been creating content for a while and have some of those, start there! Use something you have already created.

Oftentimes people don’t realize that they have probably already created some form of content. I have a list of 33 pieces of content that you could be repurposing.  If you want a copy, let me know and I’ll send you the link.

If not, no worries. Pick a topic and record a 5-minute video of you speaking to your ideal client about that topic.  It doesn’t have to be fancy.  You just need good lighting, your phone, and an outline of your talking points.  Then get recording!

Step 2: Make a list of places you want to share your content

Make a list of the places that you want to share your content.   Remember, all you are doing on this step is making the list.  Brainstorm the ways your audience responds best to you.

If you are just starting out, pick 2-3 mediums. If you have been creating content for a while, then pick 4-6.

The most common ways to repurpose are:

  1. Starting with a video or podcast turning that into a blog post, several social media posts, and a newsletter.
  2. Using a blog post, creating a video or podcast out of that content. And then, creating several social media posts.
  3. Take a webinar you have hosted and break it down into social media posts for a month!

We had a client that hated video.  She wasn’t comfortable on the screen. So to help her repurpose, we took her blog posts and turned them into mini podcasts. It was a win-win.

There are so many different ways!!  I am running a challenge in the Conte With Kristy Group on November 16-19. I’ll have a list of a ton of ways you can repurpose your content.

So if you can’t think of anything, come back for the challenge! We’ll talk through all sorts of options!

Step 3: Create the repurposed content

If you decided you want to create a blog post and 2 social media posts/graphics. Then take the time to do it.

If it’s sending a copy of the video to your list each week, then set it up.

Another great idea is to create Microcontent.Ā  Microcontent is bite-sized pieces of content. We talked all about it in the Content SImplified Membership this month. If you want more info on that, let me know.Ā

Whatever you decide to create, schedule time in your calendar every single week for the creation process.  If you don’t schedule time, it most likely won’t get done.  It’s so common to take the time to create the original content, but then we forget to follow through with the promotion and repurposing of it.

Step 4: Check your numbers

Y’all know I’m all about the numbers. If it’s not working, then change it. When you are experimenting with different types of content, it’s important to watch and see what your audience responds to the most.  Do they engage with live video or graphics more often?  Are they online in the morning or afternoon?

Knowing the habits of your people is a pretty important step to maximizing your time online and creating content that converts.

As I mentioned earlier, I’m hosting a fr.ee content repurposing challenge.Ā

Join the Content WIth Kristy group and I’ll send you all the info as soon as it’s ready later this week.Ā  You’ll discover how to get the maximum mileage out of the content you create so you can increase your impact and income.

TL; DR

  1. Create an original piece of content OR find an old piece of content.Ā  It could be a video, audio, infographic, webinar. The possibilities are endless.Ā
  2. Make a list of places you want to share your content.Ā  Where does your audience play the most?
  3. Create the repurposed content. Schedule time to get more mileage out of your content!
  4. Check your numbers. Know what your audience engages with the most.
